In the light of the aspen grove On the north end of the lake We would settle down from the dirt roads we did take. Travelled 'cross the mountainside, Oh, how those days went by. You hear the song but you don't know the words Nor who is who Smell of the pines on the eastern side How those days went by Up in Lundy and Glass Creek Those carved canyons we did roam While the grosbeaks (rose-breasted) songs were heard through the wildflowers on that mountainside Oh, how those days went by You know the story that just wants to be heard Slowly learned all the words Smell of the pines on the eastern side How those days went by

Back in the hills where the rivers roll Rolls all the days When they came, they gave it a try but couldn't make to stay I could see them sittin' there in that old meadow Wasn't much different then, it was long long ago All that's left is this old wooden house Torn by the tales left from time In those days they didn't want to wait Down along that riverside Then the hills turned to gold all through the fall They packed their bags and left their home, headed down the road In a mile or two, winter came and they sure were gone Spring rolled around and the flowers bloomed and the birds all sang their songs All that's left is this old wooden house Torn by the tales left from time Flowers now have overgrown this old porch left all alone

Desert Lily 02:15
Under the shade of the old pinyon pine Along the granite mountain side In a cabin which we did dwell in the sweet Mojave air The desert lily grows where some folks may never go The desert lily grows where I too may never know Song of the canyon wren in spring and those Kelso Dunes sing While the wind shapes the land, think of all the stories in the sand.
